The Babel Cipher is not on the App Store yet, and is still in testing, so this page exists in order that support is in place from the day it launches rather than some weeks after, with everything below applying once you are able to install it.
The Babel Cipher is made by one person, so support here is an email address rather than a helpdesk, which at least means a bug report is read by the person who can act on it rather than triaged by somebody who cannot.
Reporting a bug
A report is far easier to act on when it says what you were doing at the time, so the details below help considerably, though a report missing all of them is still worth sending.
- Your device and iOS version, from Settings, General, About.
- The difficulty you were playing on.
- What you did immediately before the problem appeared.
- What you expected to happen and what happened instead.
- A screenshot or a screen recording if the problem is visual.
Common questions
A word I know was rejected. The game checks words against a fixed dictionary, which will not contain every valid English word and tends to be thin on proper nouns, recent coinages and regional spellings, so send the word across and it can be considered for the next update.
My high scores have gone. Scores are stored on the device and are not backed up to any account, because the game has no accounts and no server. Deleting and reinstalling the app clears them, and they do not transfer to a new device.
Is there an Android version? Not at present. If that changes it will be announced on the game page.
Does the game cost anything after download, or show adverts? No. There are no in-app purchases, no subscriptions and no advertising of any kind. What you download is the whole game.
Accessibility
The game is designed to be readable and unhurried, with difficulty settings that let you match the pace to your own comfort rather than to a timer, so if something about the interface makes it hard to play for you, that is worth an email, since problems of that kind are usually straightforward to correct once somebody has reported them.
Privacy
The game collects no personal data. The full privacy policy sets out what that means and what stays on your device.
